Patrons of the arts have been an important part of society for generations; they’ve helped fund artists’ works which otherwise would not have been created. I’m happy to have had one loyal patron who has commissioned works from me every 10 years or so. The last one I completed for him was of an art photograph that he took of me wearing a mask and standing in front of a rainbow painting I had done (I enjoyed the meta narration of that piece, painting a photo of a painting that I had painted). This time he commissioned a couple of paintings, again based on photographs he had taken. One was of his kids playing in a skate park in BC, and the other was of a beautifully lit light switch on a wall. I had a lot of fun capturing his photography!
